Hi, I’m Sophia.

I'm a motivated and curious individual with a passion for innovation and solving complex problems. I'm a dedicated student-athlete who knows how to work under pressure and pursues excellence in all my endeavors. I'm eager to learn and excited to explore new fields and disciplines. I have an analytical mind and I like to make sense of the stories numbers can tell, and I want to make a difference for my company and its customers and have a positive impact in the world.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Italy; my dad is Italian and my mom is American. My dad has more of a creative side, and my mom is very logical and analytical--I like to think I'm a combination of the two! I'm bilingual, and love traveling and learning about other cultures. I enjoy cooking and exploring new restaurants. I wish I could have more time for my true love - horseback riding. I play piano, and some of my preferred pastimes are drawing/painting, reading, and spending time outdoors. I miss Lulu, my miniature black poodle, a fun and supportive tennis travel companion, who has taken my place at home in Philadelphia.

I am currently a junior at the Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a B.S. in Industrial Engineering with a concentration in Data Science & Analytics. I am planning on continuing my education at Tech by pursuing a Master's Degree in Analytics or Supply Chain upon graduation in May 2023, but am open to considering all opportunities in front of me. I am on the women's tennis team, so I not only have experience balancing an intense 20 hour training week plus travel with a full schedule of classes, but also understand what it means to be part of a team, both as a contributor and a leader.

PROJECTS

  • DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION INITIATIVE

    September 2020

Designed the department-wide unity emblem, featuring the words “Together We Change. One Voice. One Fight” surrounding an image of multi-racial interlocking arms and the GT logo.

  • DATA ANALYTICS PROJECT

    April 2021

Defined and organized project scope, objectives, and deliverables for a Data Input/Manipulation project. Utilized Python programming to collect data about economic metrics for developing and non-developing countries worldwide, used various coding techniques to extract, load and transform data sets to create graphical representations for exploring and observing economic insights and trends.

  • SHORTEST PATH ALGORITHMS

    October 2021

Solved a “word chain”, in which we progressively transform one specified word to another specified word of the same length through a series of steps where only one letter is changed at a time. This process was viewed as a graph problem; a graph algorithm was implemented to determine a shortest path through the graph from a specified source word to a specified destination word, and the path was printed.

  • SORTING A FLIGHT SCHEDULE

    November 2021

Solved for the requirements to determine the minimum number of gates and number of airplanes needed to accommodate an established airport flight schedule for a 24-hour period, and wrote an application in C for execution of the code.

  • COUNTING BALLOT RESULTS

    November 2021

Developed a program to implement several methods of deciding the winner of an election. We were tasked to read in a file containing a list of ballots and store the information for processing by various methods. The code also allows the user to include a command-line argument that will cause the code to provide greater output detail.
